2025 Board Election

Overview.
One of the best parts of being a Co-op member is the ability to vote on candidates and run for our board. This year, there are four seats open for two-year terms.
If you're psyched about the Co-op and want to get more involved in the climbing community, we encourage you to apply for the board! Keep in mind that psych alone doesn't keep the Co-op going—there's some real work going on behind the scenes. As elected officers, we do our best to represent the Co-op as a whole, and have a fiduciary and fiscal responsibility for the health of the business.
Why is the board important?
The board is committed to promoting member involvement and democracy in our co-op, creating a more inclusive climbing community, and supporting our members in their goals.
Equally important, the board keeps our Co-op running smoothly. Collectively, our board members are in charge of coordinating our volunteers, responding to our members, counting our beans, and making sure bills get paid and our lights stay on (unless you’re the last one out—then please turn off the lights).
Who can apply?
Any Minnesota Climbing Co-op member can apply to be on the board. We appreciate folks with experience in volunteer coordination, co-ops, accounting, maintenance, event planning, marketing, website and/or social media management. Our board members come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of skills to the table. Once elected, we'll collectively decide on our roles and responsibilities based on changing needs of the co-op and skill sets of our board members. However, for this election we are really in need of folks with experience in:

Secretary
Expectations:
The following list is not intended to encompass all functions of the position; rather, they are intended to provide a general framework of expectations for the role. Board members may be required to perform other functions not specifically addressed in this list.
Be an access pass holder (not guaranteed complimentary for board members).
Make the Co-op your “home” climbing gym—be there on a “regular” basis.
If you climb 1x per week and it’s at the Co-op, great.
If you’re injured and just coming for movie night or to hang out occasionally, great.
If you’re climbing 3—4x per week and only at the co-op 1x per month (and the rest at other gyms), you might need to re-evaluate being on the board.
Be a positive representative of the Co-op.
Introduce yourself to new people, invite people to events, and generally be positive when speaking about the Co-op.
Attend all monthly meetings (2 hrs), as well as any meetings of committees you may serve.
